The North Sioux City Fire Department is an all-volunteer fire department comprised of 36 members. The Fire Department takes pride in their unique ability to provide fire protection, rescue service and emergency medical service to the Dakota Valley Fire District. This district encompasses the City of North Sioux, the Big Sioux Township, Dakota Dunes and Wynstone. While the population of the district exceeds 4,000 people, it also includes an industrial area with an influx of more than 6,000 people per day.
The Fire Department's mission, as well as each of its volunteer members, is to reduce deaths, injuries and property loss from fire, hazardous conditions, emergency medical situations and other disasters. The department will do this by providing excellent, state of the art, pacesetting life and property preservation, and emergency services, while recognizing the members are the key to our success.
